Two Million Steps For Hope

On January 15, 2017, American John Moriarty, Indian Tharun Kumar and Australian Chris Smith traversed 1,000 miles (1,610 kilometers/2,000,000 steps) in a unique expedition that explored the human slavery issue in India. According to the United Nations, human trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world. Moriarty, Kumar and Smith set out on this journey to raise funds and awareness in Sparrow's Hopes’ efforts to rescue and rehabilitate some of the children who have been wrapped up in the world of slave trade. Numerous Indians joined the trio along portions of the route.

Sparrow's Hope in India

  • One Million Steps For Hope A 500 mile run in India to fight human trafficking. We will run from Bangalore to Pondicherry to Mudurai to Tirunelveli in 16 days running 31 miles each day. India is ranked #1 in the world in the numbers of people being sexually trafficked. We will speak to thousands of middle school/high school age students about the warning signs and ways to prevent being a victim of human trafficking. We would like to start a safe house focused on rescue, safety, rehabilitation and skills training for women rescued from the streets or the brothel. The house will be called Sparrow's Hope House.
